Course Ethos
The course has been written by Jason with outdoor based working in mind. Jason has worked in many varied outdoor sectors including as a Tree Surgeon, Landscaper, Climber, Paddler, Rescuer and Water Safety Instructor. It follows a common sense approach and builds on those skills that outdoor people already have. With that in mind we recognise that equipment is generally limited in the outdoor environment and so, the course will focus on reaching the highest standards of casualty care whilst using the minimum of equipment; a small first aid kit and typical outdoor gear. We encourage all our students to ‘do the simple but important things well’ and as such we will endeavor to keep medical terminology and gadgets to the minimum.
History of the Course.
We are justifiably proud of our course; it has its beginnings in the Royal Air Force Mountain Rescue Service Basic First Aid Course that we wrote in the mid 90’s! Jason has been developing it ever since!
