The Safe Working in Water (SWIW) course is designed for people who work in water who will need to be able to do self or co-worker rescues. Failure to have suitably qualified and experienced staff operating in and around water has led to accidents and fatalities with HSE prosecutions and significant fines (See link at below).
The typical industry sectors who commonly have employees or volunteers working in or near water are:
- Government Agencies ie. EA, SEPA, NRW personnel.
- Agricultural industries.
- Construction, surveying, road and bridge maintenance sectors.
- Environmental sectors.
- Geo-physical / surveying sectors.
- River trust, management, volunteer sectors.

This 2-day practical course is designed to ensure you, and your team are fully able to assess the risks associated with working in and around water, establish safe systems of work and deal with incidents should they arise. Key learning areas on the course are:

Rescue 3 Europe is an internationally recognised body that leads the way in setting standards in the water and land-based rescue industry. Course standards, learning outcomes and key teaching points are provided as pre- and post-course reference for people involved in the delivery of Rescue 3 courses.

COURSE LENGTH: 12 hours (min 2 days).
PREREQUISITES: 18 Years or older. Candidates must be able to swim 25m unaided.
ACCREDITED BY: Rescue 3 Europe.
QUALIFICATION VALID FOR: 3 Years.
